That once-in-a-life-cinematic-moment!!!

Impressed with Polladhavan then, I was desperate for Aadukalam's arrival. No wonder, I rushed to Innovative for FDFS.Within 15-20 minutes, I was literally cut off from Bangalore and transported to Madurai.Almost, the intensity in each scene went up and up and finally reached its peak in the pre-interval sequence, where I went into an extreme point of excitement with no words could summarize that.I came out of the hall dumbfounded;heading towards toilet I started replaying the rooster-fight scenes wondering how brilliantly those scenes were executed.

The Pre-Interval scenes forms the crux of the movie: They show the depth of the Ego-Clash and how it turns into a deep jealousy. The best part was, the entire ego-clash/generation-gap,down-deep-emotions between KARUPPU and PETTAIKAARAN were conveyed visually through the form of Rooster-Fight Sequences rather KARUPPU and PETTAIKARAN coming face-to-face in a single frame. The way the Pettaikaraan expressions change, when his ego takes a beating after the outcome of each rooster-fight, shows his stellar Performance! Those scenes easily takes the cake in one of the best scenes ever made in Indian Cinema History.

Its been 3 years after Aadukalam;but still, none of the movie thereafter failed to amaze me either in terms of making, content and performance-wise.Even in a DABBA theater like Innovative Multiplex, it was one of the best movie-experience in my life. When could I get that pure Cinematic-Magic again ?

Waiting for that-aadukalam-moment!!!

I’m Back.

Sorry for too much hibernation. Its been 8 Months since my last post.Time just keeps running. As a matter of fact, I started the Blog with an intention of a post in every week but couldn't make it.The main reason is due to my too much concentration on Reading and some movies occasionally.Unlike a bachelor, a family man can't take things for granted. He needs his time for his wife, and especially being a father the responsibility is huge.Anyhow, lets keep aside all those personal issues.Writing is pure fun.I wish for more regular posts from now on.

The Lighter Side of Ilaiyaraaja Background Scores.

Of Course everyone knows the brilliance of Ilaiyaraaja when comes to BGM; We had/will read n number of articles/news/blogs exploring the Master's breathtaking BGM's on - soulful Idhayathai Thirudathey Title Score Or spine-chilling Sivappu Rojakkal Or Poovizhi Vasalilie "Om Om Hari Om" Or blissful romantic scores like Kathalukku Mariyadhai, Aanpaavam, Or sentimental Thalapathy Score and so on, but hardly we had read about Maestro's comical BGMs which are no way inferior to his other mainstream scores.

It happened on one or few instances while watching some comedy scenes, I was completely amazed by the scores, which eclipsed the actors in those scenes. This is something unusual.Generally, BGM doesn't play a major role in comedy scenes than compared to emotional or romantic scenes - as comedy scenes depend purely on its actors to do their slapstick gimmicks. In spite of this, Maestro's scores are remarkable in many comedy scenes as they even outdo the actors.

Some of the best funny scores of Ilaiyaraaja I love.

Mudhal Mariyadhai : In a complete emotional movie, there lies a single scene - where Radha challenges Sivaji to lift the "Maapillai Stone" - which shows Ilaiyaraaja's stamp.Scene starts with a beautiful Guitar strumming, closely joined by another Guitar, forming a heavenly counterpoint and finally ends as a postlude Keyboard piece. This is one of the most delightful score ever composed by Raja.(Of Course Sivaji's expression too priceless)

Naane Raja Naane Mandhiri : After all, Who could forget the classic phrase " இஷ்ட லக்கடி லாலா சுந்தரி கோலா கொப்பர கொய்யா!! " The movie which showed the Captain in a new and unusual role.Needless to say,he pulled off the role quite comfortably.Equally the BGM too take the credit.Listen to the Title Score. Ilaiyaraaja's Trumpet Grandiose starts the moment Vijaykanth comes.

Agni Natchathiram : VK Ramasamy tries to hide Disco Shanthi from his wife by moving her from one room to another. This is what the scene. But it has three emotions Humour - Secrecy - Sensual. On observing the score anyone could clearly figure out the three emotions. That's typical genius of Ilaiyaraaja!!!!

Micheal Madana Kamarajan : Divine Comical Carnatic Piece!!!(Note the mild Bass Guitar :)

Karagatakkaran : What's there to say in this BGM ? :-)

Padikathavan :

The above are some of the best known examples I have seen till now of Ilaiyaraaja.Raasukutti Theme is another good score from Raja but sadly I couldn't find it in youtube.Still there could be some scores which I missed and I will try to upload them in future.

Prologue.

It was December 2006, I was first introduced to Orkut - then India's sole authority of Social Networking. Orkut's influence was so deep in me that it took a heavy toll in my office work. Literally, I worked in between Orkutting; I explored each and every bit of its user-interface, joined 1000 communities(that was the maximum limit),argued in heated debates in many communities, made friends with 100's of virtual users(some of them turned into close friends now);this process continued for the next 3-4 years. In the mean time, I explored Facebook and Twitter too - but both failed to appeal me. In particular, Facebook, was just useless to my tastes and community discussions.

One of the things I liked in Orkut is surfing through different persons profile and studying their mindset by glancing over their interests, books, movies, music etc. In one such occasion I was intrigued by a term called "Webpage" and correspondingly a blogspot address was there. Only then I knew that each individual could create their own webpage and pen their garbage.

From that moment I was so restless and desperate to create my own garpage. Just in the next few days I did create a blog for me, Thanks to Office Net. As like anyone who had bitten by a blog-bug, I came up with minimum three posts in a week in my early stages of blog. They mostly contained amateur movie & music reviews which are unbearable to read now.

Over a period of time, I came through a lot of Tamil blogs and influenced by them, I came up with a post by toiling till midnight 2.Interestingly, a set of dedicated folks who read my blog regularly praised like anything and advised me to continue in Tamil. (I sensed their minds saying- Enough killing English) I have no other option than to continue in Tamil since I’ am not ready to lose my one or two readers. From there on my journey with Tamil began and its still going smooth. If you want to have a risk, here’s the link: http://musicmahesh.wordpress.com

Have a deep breath!!

Again now, before few months a terrible idea popped in my mind. Why can't I have one more blog exclusive for English? I always love keep changing (only) things; I can't settle in anything over a period of time. That's the reason I switched from WordPress to Blogger now.Though I kept pondering about creating a blog since last few months, things didn't get materialize till this auspicious Independence Day. Anyway what a great day to launch a blog!! It’s just a pure coincidence!!!
